The Gardens Trust is an important part of the national planning system. As a Statutory Consultee, it must be consulted about any planning proposal which affects a Register Park or Garden whether within the park or in its wider setting.
Its officers, some paid and some volunteers, work unceasingly to monitor and comment on these applications, ably supported by information provided by us, the county Trusts. This year Historic England has withdrawn any funding from the Gardens Trust. Completely. This puts at risk even the rental of the small office.
